Transit Visa

This visa is intended for applicants travelling to via Spain to another non-Schengen destination. This visa does not allow the visa holder to work in Spain apart from the purpose stated at the time of application.

Only legal residents of Saudi Arabia who have valid Saudi residency that covers the entire duration of the trip (‘til the date of return) can apply at the Visa Application Center.

The Embassy reserves the right to call on applicants for interview if further details or documents are required.

Visa applicants must submit their application in person and enroll their biometric (fingerprints) at the time of submission if they are 12 years old and above. When the applicant is a minor the application can be submitted by the parents or legal representative.

Only applicants travelling within the next 3 months (90 days) can submit their application. It is advisable to do it at least 15 days in advance. As a gentle reminder, Article 12 of Visa Code establishes that passport shall contain at least two blank pages and shall be valid for at least three months after departure date from Schengen area.

Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted; and the visa application can only be processed upon receipt of ALL documents required by the Embassy (see List of required documents).

Visa fees are non-refundable and have to be paid only in cash at the time of submission.

Applications are resolved as soon as the system allows it. In general terms, Saudi nationals applications are resolved within 3-4 days. Please note that contacting the Embassy will not speed up the process. The Embassy is not providing any information about visa status over the phone or via email. To avoid waiting times during the high season, please do not delay the submission of your visa application.

If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be: The Embassy of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest. If the duration of stay is the same for all Schengen state, the Embassy of the country of first entry.

Note: Countries with a visa facilitation agreement with the European Union and children between the ages of 6-11 years. The Schengen visa fee amounts to SAR 144, for nationals of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cape Verde, Georgia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine.

BLS International Service charge

Applicants applying at the Spanish visa application Centre shall be levied a service charge of SAR 79.35 (including 15% VAT) payable in cash. Children under 6 are exempted from service charge.

Optional additional documents :
  • Business card from the applicant as well as the HR manager or superior.
  • It is recommended that the applicant name in the bank statement is written in English language.
  • Original letter from the employer would ideally have an electronic stamp by Chamber of Commerce (for “non-Saudi citizens“)
  • The salary would have to be clear in the bank statement or salary slip from the company (for “non-Saudi citizens“ only)
  • Bank account closing balance should have sufficient funds to cover trip expenses. Several bank statements can be provided to show sufficient funds.
  • Letter from the company when the applicant’s salary is paid in cash/pay slips instead of bank transfers (details regarding payment methods and reasons would normally be included).
  • Letter from the head of the company /government department supporting supporting the application.

Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

  • Taken against so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre..

The above period does not guarantee that applications will be processed within that certain duration; the period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member state are consulted.

Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.

Applicants submitting the applications with short processing time will be required to fill up the Declaration form.

Please note W.E.F 01 April 13 , Embassy of Spain has instructed that Sworn Declaration is mandatory to be provided along Visa Application form at the time of submission.
